Tournament Rules
WSOP Series 2008-2009
This year we have implemented some changes to make the event more appealing and structured in a way to encourage more participation throughout the full schedule of events. Here are the bullet points outlining this year's series of tournaments.
- The Grand Prize will be a full expense package to the Main Event in 2009. It will include the $10,000 buy-in, Air fare, Hotel and Meal expense of $1,000.
- The Second Place Finisher will receive $2,000 to buy into and participate in a $2,000 event at the WSOP in 2009 and $500 for travel.
- We will run an 18 tournament schedule and will take your top 10 finishes to determine your total points for the series. This will allow you to miss several tournaments and stay in contention.
- The money remaining after the first and second prize winners are paid will go toward entries in the WSOP $1,500 events as consolation prizes. These funds will be divided equally to create as many $1,500 packages as possible (the $1,500 buy-in, hotel and air fare expenses). The $1,500 tournament this year paid over $800,000 to the winner!
- There will be a final second chance playoff tournament for the top remaining 20 players (#'s 3 - 22) at the conclusion of the 18 tournament series to determine the winners of the consolation prize packages. You will also be awarded extra starting chips depending on your overall finish. If you finished 22nd, you would receive the starting stack of $12,000, 21st would get an additional 200 in chips, 20th 400 and so on in increments of $200.
- In order to qualify for the second chance playoff tournament, players will have competed in a minimum of 6 events throughout the season. If a member of the syndicate is short of this requirement, that member will be allowed to makeup the difference in purchasing buy-ins. For example, if Player 15 has played in 7 tournaments and wishes to participate in the playoff tournament, he/she can contribute $200 (price of two missing buy-ins) to the syndicate's total and be eligible to participate in the playoff tournament.
- We will run a mix of tournaments. There will be several NO re-buy tournaments (freeze out events). There will also be a mix of buy-in structures with most of the re-buy tournaments being $60 with $40 re-buys and one $40 add-on. The NO re-buy tournaments will be in the $100 range.
- Every 4th tournament (Tournaments 4, 8, 12, and 16) will be Major Tournaments - starting stacks will be $10,000 and winners will be awarded an additional 25 points for each place earning points.
- Most tournaments will be run at Rudy's. We will be rotating responsibilities for picking up food and water only. Everything else will be BYOB. Any changes in venue location will be announced as needed.
- For every tournament entered you will receive 5 points towards your WSOP series total.
- For every tournament entered you will receive one share of the Syndicate. The syndicate will have a vested 50% share in any money won buy all winners of our series at the WSOP events in Las Vegas 2009. The winners of our series will take 50% of their winnings at the WSOP events in Las Vegas 2009. They will also receive their vested share, along with the 50% share.
- The Grand Prize winner and consolation winners must take the winning prize and play in the designated WSOP event in Vegas 2009. Taking the cash equivalent is not an acceptable prize. If you win and either can't make the WSOP in Vegas or do not want to play then you can option if off to the next qualifier for a 10% take of his or her winnings at the WSOP event in Vegas 2009.
- If you plan to receive your share of money earned according to your stake in the syndicate, you will be required to provide the syndicate's CPA with the necessary documentation for tax purposes. This will be provided by our CPA and must be on file before the start of the 2009 WSOP in Las Vegas.
- There will be no chopping at any of the tournaments. We play to win!
