World Series of Poker
The 2009 SA Syn winner, Chris Gerhardt, has begun his journey in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event. Each participant begins the tournament with 30K in chips. Blind levels are 2 hours in length!
Here is a very brief recap from our gladiator in the ME:
- After the first break- up from 30K to 43K- so far, so good
- 2nd break- down to 34K
- 3rd break- six hours in at dinner break up to 42K at new table with one known pro
- 4th level- up to 50K+
- 4th break- up to 57.5K
- 5th break- up to 82.5K ! END OF DAY 1C (This stack puts Chris in the top 6% of his field. A very good day's work)

Day 2B was a roller coaster of a ride as indicated below:
- First report from Chris is that he was up early to 90K (30 mins into the day)
- One hour later he is up to 121K
- One hour later he is up to 125K
- 5 hours into the day Chris takes a tough beat by a guy who goes all in on a QTT board with an open ended straight. Nemesis has KJ and the 9 completes his lucky straight. Chris is knocked down to 43.5K at dinner break
- On the move, chipping back up he wins a pot and is at 56K
- One hour later his up to 60K
- Eight hours into the day, he is down to 27.7K
- 40 minutes later he is up to 39.5K
- With 45 minutes left in the day, he moves up to 89K
- Chris finishes Day 2B with 79.7K
According to the WSOP web site, there are 1724 players remaining which makes the chip average right at 113K. our man is very much in the hunt. The field must eliminate almost 1100 players before they reach the money. Keep your fingers crossed that Chris will find his groove at these higher blind levels where pots turn into big game changers.
